Here are some of the symptoms, but you really should talk to your doctor if you suspect you have it.

Being thursty a lot, having to get up to pee several times at night, numbness and/or tingling in fingers and/or feet and toes, dry mouth no matter how much water you drink, blurred vision (assuming you have any vision), and some others. It affects people differently, but those are some of the more common symptoms.

Also with a raised blood sugar level, head aches can be common. Your urine can have a extremely strong smell, also can be sticky as hell if it hits the toilet and dries. Feeling like your sick to your stomach all the time. Mood changes that are extreme and just come onto you. My body temp changes, or at least feels like it does. Plus when sugar levels are extrememly up, blood can be thicker than normal. Plus may feel tired all the time, no matter how much sleep one gets.

You can also have none of the symptons and still have diabetes, not a norm though.

I know quite a bit. If its type 1 you will be extremely thirsty and drink and pass water constantly. You will be very tired have no appetite. There may also be a very sweet smell from your skin indicating abnormally high blood sugar.

Even if it is negitive you should go to your doctor anyway. Trust me, you don't want to ignore it if it comes up negitive and then find that you do have it when your shuger goes up into the 300's. My entire family has it but I don't. is that normal?

I suppose by now you've gone to the doctor to have the blood test. How did it turn out? Are you diabetic? If so, it's very important to learn how to manage your diet and excercise program. Believe me, you don't want to have your sugar drop down too low. I've been there and the feeling is terrible. This is a life long condition that will take some getting used to. But you can do it. I have been a diabetic since I was 9 years old. I can tell you that not always are the home tests accurate as my doctor and I have compared my readings with my home monitor many times and they are always off. It gives a good a good idea of your sugars at the moment, but the only way to tell if you are a diabetic is to have glucose tolerance tests and to have the doctor run a special blood test called a Hemoglobin A1c that reads your sugar level history over a period of 90 days. If you are worried about it. Do not rely on home tests. Go to the doctor.
